One Month Old

Alexander turned one month old yesterday. To commemorate the event, he made sure we had an all-night celebration! Good thing he's cute! However, cute doesn't even cover it. ADORABLE doesn't either. I just want to eat him up! (when I'm not wishing for sleep...)

The other two kids are so adorable too with Alexander. There is a song from the Talking Heads that just about covers it to a tee. Right now, it's #26 on the Playlist, but the video can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imWnuirIL8o

Stay Up Late by the Talking Heads

The lyrics:

Mommy had a little baby
There he is fast asleep
He's just a little plaything
Why not wake him up?
Cute, cute,
little baby
Little pee-pee,
little toes

Now he's comin' to me
Crawl across the kitchen floor.

Baby, baby, please let me hold him

I wanna make him stay up all night

Sister, sister, he's just a plaything
We wanna make him stay up all night
Yeah we do

See him drink from a bottle.
See him eat from a plate.

Cute, cute as a button.

Don't you wanna make him stay up late.
And we're having fun with no money.
Little smile on his face.
Don't cha' love the little baby.
Don't you want to make him stay up late.

Here we go (all night long)
Sister, sister (all night long)
In the playpen...woo...(all night long)

Little baby goes, ha! (all night long) I know you want to leave me... Why don't we pretend.
There you go, little man.

Cute, cute, why not?
Late at night, wake him up.

Chorus

Here we go (all night long)
Sister, sister...woo... (with the television on)
Little baby goes...woo! (all night long)
Hey, hey, baby! (all night long)
And he looks so cute (all night long)
In his little red suit (all night long)

Christian has been singing this song for a couple months now - starting before the baby came. Last night he even modified it. Starting with the line: Little pee pee, little toes, he continued by adding: Little butt...little buttcrack. No, I'm not kidding.

Alexander Goes To First Grade (Already)!

On Friday, the day before he turned one month, Mom and Alexander visited Christian's first grade class. Alexander has been quite a celebrity to Christian, so I knew I had to let him show off his baby brother to his classmates:

And here's Christian in this photo, so happy to be showing off his little baby brother....

One Month Old - January 22, 2011
Alexander had an outing with Mom and Dad yesterday, 1/22/11 and being that it was the day he turned one month, we had to take pictures. I was even brave enough to get in on it, even though I'm. not. happy. with my frumpy post-baby weight.

My next entry, Alexander will be showed off in a special sweater sent to him from his Papa and Grandma Georgia all the way from South Africa!

The Big Blur

I hope by writing this, as I look back on these weeks as a big "blur", I'll have some recollection of some things that actually went on. I think of the newborn days with Mikelle and Christian, and I mostly recall the big blur.

Life moves on. My mom went back to Idaho last week and Chris returned to work this week. Therefore, it's been a little more difficult having a newborn, but it's nothing unexpected or surprising.

Alexander is 3 1/2 weeks now  and it's so hard to see how fast time is moving on.

Two days before my mom returned home, we went to nearby San Tan Flats for dinner. I'm not a big country music person, but the guy they had singing that night was pretty good. The other 2 kids had fun roasting marshmellows on the fire outside. And man, they have huge radioactive size marshmallows there!

Christian playing with the water, no matter how cold it was that evening.

The excitement of having a baby around, certainly will continue. The kids just love him and they're constantly taking pictures of him. If you combine that with my sick need to take a million pictures, we have a lot of pictures!

Chris is easily one of the best baby daddies around. I see other dads/husbands that don't "plug in" or help out or act like the baby is just a "blob". It drives me crazy to see what some unacceptable behavior other women accept from their spouses. However, not Chris. Again, I am so lucky to have him. Sure, with Chris back at work now, the nights are a little harder, but when he doesn't have to work, I can count on splitting the baby duties during those nighttime and daytime "blurs".

Alexander certainly has no problem letting us know his opinion on certain things. I wouldn't expect anything less from one of our children.

3 weeks old
A day shy of Alexander turning 3 weeks, the other two kids had a ball with one of their photo sessions complete with the use of the timer.

Mikelle, Christian and Alexander

Since Chris had to return to work on 1/13/10, he and I had a date day on Wed 1/12 with the baby and took him to get his 3 week pictures. Mikelle had cute little nekkid shots when she was 3 weeks, so I continued the tradition with Christian and Alexander. These shots below are "screen shot" quality since I don't have the prints yet to scan and they don't let you copy the images when they email them to you.

1/12/10 - 3 Week Pictures

By the way, the blue blanket was hand made by a sweet lady from church, Susana Gardner.

More Baby Daddy Pics from today. Chris hates when I take pictures of him sleeping, but how can you resist this?

And last night, with Mikelle

Welcome, 2011!

The last few days have been great. We had 3 days in the row that never left the 40s. That is UNHEARD OF around here and I wonder if it'll happen again during my lifetime. As I've mentioned before, I am definitely more wired for cooler temperatures - not Midwest arctic winters, but winters that would be in the 30s or 40s. Again, if I could move to Oregon, it would be ideal. That would also yield more humane summers!

I have been going a little stir-crazy. Alexander hasn't been completely couped up (hence, we went to Wickenburg on 12/29), but time outside the house has been very limited. Some of that can be attributed to cooler temperatures and it is Flu/RSV season. Also, when he gets hungry, he gets hungry. As one of the nurses said in the hospital: He's very serious about his food. Therefore, it's a little difficult to stop and try to nurse him if we're out and about. That part will get easier, I hope.

I must admit, I am a little sad that December is over. Not only do I usually feel a little letdown after Christmas, but with Alexander's arrival, the end of December and the start of a new year already tells me that time in marching on. I always have a problem with my babies growing up. It seems to happen too fast. Alexander is already 11 days old. I know, I'm being a little irrational about time marching on. However, the feelings are very real.

These were taken a few days before the New Year. About 12/29 or 12/30:

New Year's Eve - We are quite the partiers, huh?

Another shot with big sister Mikelle. She adores her little brother. She even thanked me for having him!
I guess I didn't take any New Year's Day pictures, but here are some from today, 1/02/11.

Bathtime!

Post-bath! His hair is so cute and fluffy from being washed!

Christian just loves his little brother. In fact, yesterday when Daddy, Grammy and Mikelle and Christian were going to see Megamind, Christian didn't want to go - he wanted to stay home with the baby. We talked him into going. And tonight, at bedtime, Christian kissed the baby and said, "I love you, little brother."

Grammy with Alexander - her seventh grandchild. It's been nice having her here!
